This illustration from an old textbook shows some of the over 150 different dog breeds that can be seen around the world today. How do you think all of these different breeds were developed?

    The answer is most likely cross-breeding. As science expanded and the desire for better breeds of animals grew, many different animals were bred with their own species (not exactly the same, but the different animals were bred, same species).
