Calculate the current in mA through the person, given the voltage of the source to be 120 V and the resistance of the appliance to be 2,552 Ohms. Let the resistance of the person be 96 Ohms which is a low but very possible with wet skin or sweaty hands.

    90.6 A

    Explanation:

    From ohm's law,

    V = IR ... Equation 1

    Where V = Voltage of the source, I = current through the person, R = Total resistance

    Make I the subject of the equation,

    I = V/R ... Equation 2

    From the question,

    R = Resistance of the appliance + Resistance of the skin

    R = 2552+96 = 2648 ohms.

    Given:

    V = 240 V, R = 2648 Ω

    Substitute into equation 2

    I = 240/2648

    I = 0.0906 A

    I = 90.6 mA.

    Hence the current through the person = 90.6 A.
