Given that the small piston has a radius of 0.0330 meters^2 and the large piston has a radius of 4.00 meters^2.

(

a. What force will the large piston provide if the small piston is pushed down with a force of 17.0 N?.

(

b. If the small piston is slowly depressed a distance of y1 = 0.300 m, by how much will the large piston rise?

(

    So the problem is about pressureP = F / awhere P is the pressureF is the force applieda is the area

    a.) F1 / a1 = F2 / a2F1 / 4 m^2 = 17 N / 0.033 m^2F1 = (4 m^2) 17 N / 0.033 m^2F1 = 2060.6 N

    b.) firts solve the volume of the small pistonV = AhV = 0.300 m (0.033 m^2) V = 0.0099 m^3so the Volume are equal in both

    0.0099 = 4hh = 0.002475 m

    c. w = Fdwork small psiton = 17N (0.3m) = 5.1 jwork big piston = 2060.6N (0.002475m) = 5.1 j
