An alternating current is supplied to an electronic component with a warning that the voltage across it should never exceed What is the highest rms voltage that can be supplied to this component while staying below the voltage limit in the warning?

    Let the warning voltage be V (max)

    If V (rms) be the required rms votage, The maximum voltage that it can go up to is V (rms) x√2 So

    V (rms) x√2 = V (max)

    V (rms) = V (max) / √2.
