    we know that

    one meter = 100 centimeter

    1 m = 100 cm

    clearly centimeter is smaller unit. to convert a smaller unit to higher unit, we must divide. so to convert distance measured in centimeter into meter, we must divide by 100

    for example:

    lets assume distance measured is 10 cm.

    d = 10 cm

    since 1 m = 100 cm

    hence

    d = 10 cm (1 m/100 cm)

    d = (10 x 1 / 100) (cm x m/cm)

    d = 0.1 m

    so correct choice is divide by

    D. 100
