A motorcycle at a stoplight takes 5.22 seconds to accelerate to a speed of 33.0 m/s after the light turns green. What is the average acceleration of the motorcycle?

    Explanation:

    Acceleration is defined as the division of the change in speed by the time elapsed for that speed change. In this case, the motorcycle goes from 0 m/s (it was stopped) to 33 m/s in 5.22 seconds, then its acceleration is:

    a = 33/5.22 = 6.33 m/s²

    The dimensions must be divided too. In this case we have to divide m/s by s, and we get m / (s*s) or m/s²
