    Explanation:

    Since, it is given that sugar turns red litmus paper into red. This means that either sugar is acidic or neutral in nature due to which it is unable to change the color of red litmus paper.

    In neutral solution, the color of Bromothymol blue indicator is green or greenish-blue. Hence, it means substance A might be sugar.

    In basic solution, color of red onion water changes into green due to which color of red litmus paper should change into blue. Hence, it means substance B is not sugar.

    In basic solution, color of turmeric water changes into orange and at neutral pH its color is yellow. Hence, substance C is not sugar.

    Phenolphthalein is colorless in both acidic and neutral solution. So, substance D might also be sugar.
