    B. The waves energy passes from one particle to the next.

As wave energy passes through a medium, each of its particles is displaced sequentially from its rest position. The particle either moves upwards or downwards to pass on wave energy and returns to its equilibrium position once wave has passed. In this manner, particles of the medium displace from their rest positions to pass wave energy through the medium, but return to their original positions once wave has passed through them.
