Newton's first law of motion is to the effect "every body continues in a state of rest, or uniform motion in a straight line, unless acted on by a resultant external force". So, the dart has been forced up to a speed of 5.84m/s. The question does not mention any other forces, and so, according to my understanding of Newton's law, the maximum distance is infinite or undefined. If there is further information available, that would specify the problem, and thus enable a more specific solution.
