What is the magnifying power of the telescope he can construct with these lenses? Tries 0/20 How far apart are the lenses when the telescope is adjusted for minimum eyestrain?

Focal length of first lens = 100/1.17 = 85.47 cm

Focal length of second lens = 100/9.47 = 10.56 cm

The first lens will be used as object lens, so F (o) = 85.47 cm.

The second lens will be used as eye lens, so F (e) = 10.56cm.

    Magnifying power = F (o) / F (e) = 85.47/10.56 = 8.09.

    Distance between two lenses = F (o) + F (e) = 85.47 + 10.56 = 96.03 cm.
