    20 kg. m/s, East

    Explanation:

    Step 1: identify the given parameters

    M₁ = 20kg

    V₁ = 5m/s

    M₂ = 30kg

    V₂ = 4m/s

    Total momentum (P) = ?

    Step 2: calculate the total momentum (P)

    P = ΔMV

    P = M₂V₂ - M₁V₁

    P = (30*4) - (20*5)

    P = 120 - 100

    P = 20kg. m/s

    The total momentum of the system is 20kg. m/s east in the direction of the second deer.
