    (a) 3.13 m/s

    (b) 9.9 m/s

    (c) 7.73 m/s

    Explanation:

    u = 0 m/s, g = 9.8 m/s^2

    Let v be the velocity of ball as it hit the ground.

    (a) h = 0.5 m

    Use third equation of motion.

    v^2 = u^2 + 2 g h

    v^2 = 0 + 2 x 9.8 x 0.5

    v^2 = 9.8

    v = 3.13 m/s

    (b) h = 5 m

    Use third equation of motion.

    v^2 = u^2 + 2 g h

    v^2 = 0 + 2 x 9.8 x 5

    v^2 = 98

    v = 9.9 m/s

    (c) h = 10 feet = 3.048 m

    Use third equation of motion.

    v^2 = u^2 + 2 g h

    v^2 = 0 + 2 x 9.8 x 3.048

    v^2 = 59.74

    v = 7.73 m/s
