    Answer: Entropy is always conserved.

    Entropy is generally conserved or sustained for a reversible process. Reversible processes are the ones which do not deviate from thermodynamic equilibrium, while generating maximum work. Under this it should also be noted that, processes which take place fast enough that they tend to deviate from equilibrium cannot be reversible, i. e. in such cases energy is lost to heat, entropy will increase, and potential for work done is also lost.

    Therefore, we can state that total entropy is conserved in a process that is reversible and not in a process that is irreversible.
