A wire of length 2.80 m is sitting in a region of space where there is a uniform magnetic field. The current in the wire is 4.80 A and the magnitude of the magnetic field is 0.320 T. For the following angles between the direction of current in the wire and the direction of the magnetic field, find the magnitude of the magnetic force on the wire.

    Answer

    Given,

    Length of the wire, L = 2.80 m

    Current in the wire, I = 4.80 A

    Magnetic field, B = 0.32 T

    θ be the angle between force and magnetic field.

    F = IBL sin θ

    F = 4.80 x 0.32 x 2.80 x sin θ

    F = 4.3 sin θ

    Assuming θ = 60°

    Now, Force

    F = 4.3 x sin 60°

    F = 3.725 N

    Now, if θ = 90°

    F = 4.3 x sin 90°

    F = 4.3 N
