Is this statement an observation or an inference? It must be raining outside. Explain.

    The word must means that it is an inference. If you removed that word it would be an observation as it would mean you're seeing it.

    However must implies that you can't see it and you are inferring the fact it's raining from another source, example the sound on the window.
