    1. Divergent boundary - occurs when two tectonic plates move away from each other. Magma rises from deep within the earth and erupts to form a new crust in the lithosphere. Most divergent boundaries are under water and form submarine mountain ranges called oceanic ridges. 2. Convergent boundary - it is formed when two plates come together. The impact of the colliding plates buckles the edge of one or both of plates up to form a rugged mountain range which may be volcanoes, or one of the plates is pushed down into a deep sea floor trench. 3. Transform plate boundary - it is formed when two plate slide over each other. As the plates slide over each other, the huge stress causes portions of rock to break creating huge faults. An example of such is San Andreas fault in California.
