    Answer

    given,

    initial speed of boat, u = 0 m/s

    acceleration of the boat, a = 0.21 m/s²

    distance, s = 280 m

    a) using equation of motion

    v² = u² + 2 a s

    v² = 0² + 2 x 0.21 x 280

    v = √117.6

    v = 10.84 m/s

    Final speed of the boat is equal to 10.84 m/s

    b) again using equation of motion

    v = u + a t

    10.84 = 0 + 0.21 x t

    0.21 t = 10.84

    t = 51.62 s

    time taken by the boat to travel the distance is equal to 51.62 s.
