    If an elevator is moving upwards but slowing down to stop at top floor then it implies that elevator is decelerating i. e. a net force is acting downward which opposes the motion.

    N-mg=m (-a)

    -a indicates that elevator is decelerating

    where N=Normal reaction

    mg=weight of rider

    a=acceleration of elevator
