A boulder on the mythical planet mongo drops off a cliff and falls from rest 1000 m in 10.0 s. (A) what's the initial speed of the Boulder?

(B) determine the acceleration due to gravity on mongo. Ignore friction.

    At rest, initial speed zero

    x=v (initial) t + 1/2 at^2

    -1000m=0 (10) + 1/2 a 10^2

    -1000m=50a

    a = - 20 m/s^2
