A car is at rest at the top of a driveway that has a slope of 12.5°. If the brake of the car is released with the car in neutral gear find: a. the acceleration of the car down the drive. b. the time it takes for the car to reach the street, 8.0m away.

    angle of inclination, θ = 12.5°

    initial velocity, u = 0 m/s

    distance, s = 8 m

    (a) acceleration, a = g Sinθ

    a = 9.8 x Sin 12.5°

    a = 2.12 m/s²

    (b) Let t be the time taken to reach the street.

    Use II equation of motion

    s = ut + 1/2 at²

    8 = 0 + 0.5 x 2.12 x t²

    t = 2.75 second
