The absolute (or total) pressure at the bottom of a cylindrical container with a cross-sectional area of 47.0 cm2 and holding a fluid of density 560 kg/m3 is 115 kpa. (a) determine the depth of the fluid.

    The pressure in fluids is given by,

    Pressure = density * gravity * depth

    So therefore,

    115000 = 560 * 9.8 * depth

    making the depth the subject of the formula,

    Depth = 115,000 : (560*9.8)

    = 115,000 : 5,488

    = 20.9548 m
