What is the difference between a permanent magnet and an electromagnet

    As the name says it, electromagnet are temporary and only lasts for a short period of time, while a permanent magnet is meant to last long.

    Electromagnet are also created only when an electric current passes through a coil of wire surrounding the electromagnet, while a permanent magnet creates its own persistent magnetic field.
