A worker sits at one end of a rod that is 2.80 m long. A weight of 107 N is placed at the other end of the rod. The rod is balanced when the pivot is 0.670 m from the worker. Calculate the weight of the worker.

    Let the weight of the worker represented by X newton.

    There is a normal force exerted at a distance of 0.67 m

    A weight of 120 Newton is acting at distance of 2.8 m

    Taking the moments of the across the pivot, we get:

    107 N x (2.8 m-0.67 m) = X newton x o. 67 Newton

    X = 107 N x 2.13 m/0.67 m

    X = 340.164 N
