    I don't really understand the numbers that you presented, but ill try to answer the question.

    Jay is taking data on the weight of a basket with eggs depending on the number of eggs that is in the basket.

    So for 1 egg, he knows that the basket weights w1

    for 2 eggs he knows that the basket weights w2

    and so on.

    Then, in this context, if he does a linear relation of:

    Weight = number of egs*k + b

    where k is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

    k represents the average weight of one egg, and b is the initial weight of the basket.
