Light travels approximately 982,080,000 ft/s, and one year has approximately 32,000,000 seconds. A light year is the distance light travels in one year.

    With that information you can calculate the distance that ligth travels in a year:

    V = d / t = > d = V * t

    V = 982,080,000 ft/s

    t = 32,000,000 s

    => d = 982,080,000 ft / s * 32,000,000 s = 31,426,560,000,000,000 ft

    That is the number of feet the light travels in a year.
