    It was on April 26, 1986 that the accident at the nuclear power in Chernobyl took place. Unit 4 of the nuclear power station was destroyed. This resulted in a large number of radioactive materials to be released in the environment. Massive areas of Ukraine got contaminated because of the exposure of radiation. The accident not only resulted in many deaths but also caused depression and anxiety.
