A little girl is going on the merry-go-round for the first time, and wants her 49 kg mother to stand next to her on the ride, 2.3 m from the merry-go-round's center. If her mother's speed is 4.7 m/swhen the ride is in motion, what is her angular momentum around the center of the merry-go-round?

    Given:

    r = 2.3 m

    v = 4.7 m/s

    M = 49 kg

    Momentum, L = m * r^2

    = 49 * 2.3^2

    = 259.2 kg m^2

    w = v/r

    = 4.7/2.3

    = 2.04 rev/sec

    Momentum, L = I * w

    = 259.2 * 2.04

    = 528.8 kgm^2/s.
