    Answer: False. It depends upon what is being burned or "in combustion". A common exception to this statement would be CO2 ( + other compounds) from gasoline combustion. Other fuels that are. Nitrogenous or Sulfur containing yield mixed oxides of Nitrogen and Sulfur compounds. Certain reagents in air, say Trimethyl Aluminum, would yield Flames of burning methane (& in turn, CO2 and H20), and deposit Metallic Aluminum, and Al2O3 and other Aluminum compounds. Iron Carbonyls and diIron nonacarbonyl compounds would yield Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide and FeO, and Fe2O3, predominantly.

    What is "in combustion" in air will determine the assortment of products.
