    Reason: This is a covalent reaction in which the ions pair to form Na2O.

    Both Na has a valency of + 1 and O has two pair of free electrons. Oxygen shares its electron with Na to form Covalent compound Na2O.

    It is an unstable compound and soon react with hydrogen to form sodium hydroxide
