Some of the terrestrial planets trap solar radiation in their atmospheres which heats the surface of the planet this process is called the greenhouse effect.

In this phenomenon, the atmosphere of the planet traps the solar radiation, therefore, the surface of the planet is heated. Some of this heat is radiated back into the atmosphere causing a rise in temperature.

Greenhouse effect causes planets to have a higher temperature wen compared to the temperature they would have in the absence of atmosphere.
