What causes the lines to look bent when veiwed through the glass of water

    Explanation:

    Light does not travel as fast in water as it does in air. Because of this, light will bend around the object, making it appear bent. The light refraction creates a slight magnifying affect which ends up enlarging the angle to make it appear bigger that it actually is.
