How is hydrogen similar to the elements below it? How is it different from them?

    Hydrogen is the most common element in the universe. Second to helium. Water, which in theory is a requirement for life, is two parts hydrogen. So I guess you could say hydrogen is the most diverse element in the galaxy, and the most important.
