Stars go through a life cycle. About 90% of all stars are in the main sequence period of the life cycle. Stars are stable during the main sequence period of the life cycle. Why?

    Because the force of gravity collapsing the star is equal tot he force pushing the star out due to the energy produced by the nuclear reactions happening inside the star.
