A boulder of mass 2000 kg is at the top of a cliff of height 220 m. Determine how fast the boulder will be moving when it strikes the dirt below.

    Explanation: The mass falls freely and it has a potential energy at the top of the cliff. The speed just before it hits the ground is the answer that is obtained by usİng the conservation of energy law. As the potential energy decreases the kinetic energy of the mass increases at tha same rate.

    So that the equation below:

    1/2 mv^2 = mgh

    Substitude given data into the equation and gives the result.
