Scientists change their hypothesis all the time. Remember, a hypothesis is a statement of what you think will happen before you conduct your experiment. If a scientist made a prediction that was totally off when he first started testing it, they can change it based on their new evidence. Scientists always want to see how close their original hypothesis was to the actual observations.
