How many neutrons does element X have if its atomic number is 26 and its mass number is 82?

    Therefore, you can find the number of neutrons by subtracting the number of protons from the mass number. The number of protons is equal to the atomic number, therefore you just have to do the mass number - atomic number to find the number of neutrons.
