g A child pulls a friend in a little red wagon with constant speed. If the child pulls with a force of 17.0 N for 14.0 m, and the handle of the wagon is inclined at an angle of 22° above the horizontal, how much work does the child do on the wagon?

    220.67 J.

    Explanation:

    Work: This can be defined as the product of force and its horizontal distance along the direction of force. The S. I unit of work is Joules (J).

    The expression for work done is given as,

    W = F*dcosФ ... Equation 1

    Where W = work done by the child, F = Force, d = distance, Ф = angle to the horizontal

    Given: F = 17 N, d = 14 m, Ф = 22°

    Substitute into equation 1

    W = 17 (14) cos22°

    W = 220.67 J.

    Hence the child does a work of 220.67 J on the wagon
