    -2.24 m/s²

    Explanation:

    Given:

    v₀ = 20 mi/hr = 8.94 m/s

    v = 0 m/s

    t = 4.0 s

    Find: a

    v = v₀ + at

    0 m/s = 8.94 m/s + a (4.0 s)

    a = - 2.24 m/s²
