Chemical energy from food is converted to mechanical energy when the food is broken down and absorbed in the muscles. The chemical energy from food can also be converted to thermal energy to keep the body warm.

An example of thermal energy is heat, so say you left a spoon in boiling water and touched the spoon, it would be really hot as well as the water. examples od mechanical energy would be the movement of water or wind, which we normally use to generate electricity.
