7. Eddie is driving his car and gets a flat tire. He pulls out his hydraulic jack to lift his car. If he exerts a force of 83 N on the handle of the jack and the diameter of the input piston is 125 mm, then what must the diameter of the output piston be if his car is 1100 kg? Show work.

    Given:

    Force, F = 83 N

    D1 = 125 mm

    R1 = 62.5 * 10-3 m

    Mass of the car = 1100 kg

    Force of the car = mass * a

    = 1100 * 9.81

    = 10791 N

    Pin = Pout

    Pressure = Force : area

    Area = pi * R^2

    83 / (pi * (62.5 * 10^-3) ^2 = 10791/Aout

    83 / (pi * (62.5 * 10^-3) ^2 = 10791 / (pi * R2^2

    R2 = 0.712 m

    2 * R2 = D2

    = 1.43 m
