Example of a mechanical energy is when a carpenter uses an hammer to drive a nail in a wood. The hammer with it weight has a potential energy as it is been raise upward to drive the nail to the wood, the hammer gain more potential energy with height. As the it gains motions to drive the nail to the wood, the hammer possess kinetic energy because of it motion.

    The sum of these energy, both kinetic and potential energy is the mechanical energy.
