How does earths revolution affect our view of stars in the night sky

    The stars in the night sky appear to spin around the earth with a period of 24 hours, this is because the earth spins around its axis, with a period of 24 hours. Polaris, also known as the "North Star" is directly above the earth's axis and hence appears stationary, however the rest of the stars in the sky move around Polaris. This effect is due to the earth's rotation. Due to the earth's revolution, or its orbit around the Sun, the Earth is angled differently towards the Sun. These changing positions and angles provide us with a view of different constellations in the sky throughout the year.
