If the electric field has a magnitude of 440 N/C and the magnetic field has a magnitude of 0.19 T, what speed must the particles have to pass through the selector undeflected?

    Explanation:

    For the charged particle to pass through this field undeflected, the electric force and the magnetic force acting on it must be equal

    Electric force = Magnetic force

    Electric force = Eq

    Magnetic force = qvB

    qvB = Eq

    v = (E/B)

    E = 440 N/C, B = 0.19 T

    v = (440/0.19)

    v = 2315.8 m/s
