    The internal energy generated = 4900 J

    Explanation:

    Energy: Energy can be defined as the ability or the capacity to perform work. The S. I unit of Energy is Joules (J)

    From the law of conservation of energy, the kinetic energy of the travelling bullet is converted to other forms of energy when it strike the metal plate.

    E = 1/2mv² ... Equation 1

    Given: m = 20 g = (20/100) kg = 0.02 kg, v = 7.00 * 10² m/s = 700 m/s

    Substituting these values into equation 1

    E = 1/2 (0.02) (700) ²

    E = 0.01 (490000)

    E = 4900 J

    Therefore, The internal energy generated = 4900 J
