According to Erik Erikson, "intimacy vs. isolation" is the conflict that comes at the sixth stage of psychosocial development. This occurs during young adulthood, which is defined as the age range between 19 and 40. During this stage, young adults would struggle with the question of "Should I seek love or remain by myself?". The defining feature of this stage is relationships with other individual. The individual's ability to establish and maintain both romantic and platonic relationships will determine whether the conflict at this stage of life would be resolved. Love is the virtue that the individual will gain if he or she manages to resolve this conflict.
