Correlational research attempts to describe the relationship between two variables. It is used for conforming predictions, which are useful for disconfirming potential causal relationships.

Quasi-experimental research on the other hand is used to evaluate the impact of some variable on an ongoing process

It approximates true experimental designs and is useful in uncovering potential relationships in complex psychological phenomena in a variety of settings or in showing where a relationship does not exist.
