Why do you think the framers of the Constitution intentionally made the lawmaking process so difficult and drawn out? Provide and explain at least two reasons. Describe at least one cost and one benefit of a difficult legislative process.

    Benefits from having an elaborate lawmaking process:

    Legitimacy: Strengths Congress as an institution, as people learn to understand that laws have gone through a tedious process before being considered as such. As a consequence, there is a higher level of respect and adherence to laws. The Balance of Power: By holding 2 houses, the government makes sure laws are not a product of interests from a particular political position. The system makes it increasingly difficult for a political party to have control of both houses.

    Disadvantages of having an elaborate lawmaking process:

    Tedious: The President can face numerous obstacles in trying to execute his proposals regarding public policy, as the process of converting a Bill to a Law may take a prolonged period of time.
