Winston has been working at the Ministry of Truth. He was given regular meals and clothing to feed his intellectual need. O'brien, one of the members of the Ingsoc political party, tells him what needs to be done. Winston has to create lies, satisfactory stories of the government that they are full of resources and services needed by the people are met which is not entirely true.
