Israel is a secular state. what does this mean

    "secular" means not connected to religions; not subject to religious rule (for example the Islamic Republics, such as Iran are not secular).

    So Israel has no official religion.

    Some people, however, dispute this: it is a "Jewish" state, and some take it to be a de-facto religious state: where the leaning religion being Judaism. This is disputed.
