    dependent development

    Explanation:

Dependent development refers to the situation when a country only able to reach a certain level of development because of the assistance of other country. The assistance in this context can be based on mutually benefited condition (partnership) or assistance that made throug force (such as colonization).

This is what happened between Britain and Jamaica. Without supply of cheap products from Jamaica, Britain wouldn't be able to obtain as much profit in the banana market as it does today, and that particular market wouldn't developed as much.
